Recommended Knots
Attaching stem unit to main line
Two methods are detailed here namely tying directly onto the main line
using the Palomar knot or
attaching with the links. Clearly the unit can also
be setup as a free running / sliding rig, however this guide is purely to demonstrate the knots
that we recommend be used when tying directly onto the shock leader.

Make a loop in the shock leader |
Thread the loop through the eye at the top of the stem |
Pass the loop through the eye and tie an overhand knot at the top end of the loop |
Pull enough of the loop down to just longer than the stem |
Thread the end of the stem through the loop then tighten. |
Continue to tighten until the knot begins to close |
At this stage the knot should be wetted in order to help it close neatly |
Tighten further until knot closes completely |

The following knot is recommended to attach the link to the shock leader. |
Make a loop in the line |
Tie an overhand knot at the top of the loop |
Tie a second overhand knot in the loop |
Take loop and close knot, at this stage the knot should be wetted in order
to help it close neatly |
Tighten and close knot |
Thread loop through small eye of link |
Take loop over other end of link and draw back |
Draw back until loop draws back over itself, the link can now be attached
to the stem |
If so desired a swivel can also be used in conjunction with a Trilene knot |
